Shadow Shot Sunday!

Get out the magnifying glass, get into your best sleuthing clothes and start prowling your environment looking for those wonderful, but sometimes elusive shadows. This fun and challenging meme is hosted each week by Tracy over at Hey Harriet! Click on the icon, sign up and show us how clever you are!
I do believe the Weather Man is severely emotionally challenged here in Seattle if the crazy weather we've had is any indication! But yesterday was gorgeous and sunny, today is iffy at best, but I can usually dig up something shadowy for the day!
And here it is!
The flower is from a bouquet my son had waiting for his lady friend who was visiting us from Portland over the weekend. She's lovely and delightful, by the way!

Weekend Reflections

Weekend Reflections is hosted by James each week beginning Friday at 11 AM Eastern Standard Time. It's another wonderful way of opening your eyes to new and different kinds of beauty.  We've had a little of everything weather wise this week -- that's the norm here in the northwest though as I'm sure you've guessed by now.

A part of the sanctuary that was empty of it's usual inhabitants, but I thought it was beautiful anyway!

And the harbor, of course, celebrating the end of the day!

I'm always amazed by the complex  reflections and shadows, patterns and colors that appear even in the most common places!

Sky Watch Friday!

Time to share your skies, the beauty over your world, the clouds, the colors! Sky Watch is hosted each week by Klaus and the Sky Watch team of Klaus, Sandy, Wren, Fishing Guy and me. Join us and the many people from all over the world who share theirs with us each week! Click on the icon and sign up today!  It was like a day in mid summer yesterday, with incredible blue skies, but as I'm sure you've come to know from my Sky Watch posts, blue skies one day surely doesn't guarantee them for tomorrow. But one thing is always guaranteed and that is beauty! Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Happy Mental Health Day for Us Old Guys/Gals!

Henry was in his back yard trying to fly a kite....
Henry threw the kite up in the air, the wind would catch it for a few seconds, then it would come crashing back down to earth.

He tried this a few more times with no success.
All the while, Valerie is watching from the kitchen window,
Muttering to herself how men need to be told how to do everything.

She opens the window and yelled to him...

"You need a piece of tail."

Henry turned with a confused look on his face and said,

"Make up your mind. Last night, you told me to go fly a kite."

Just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to, doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.  Ralph and Edna were both patients in a mental hospital.  One day while they  were walking past the hospital swimming pool, Ralph suddenly  jumped into the deep end.

He sank to the bottom of the pool and stayed there.

Edna promptly jumped in to save him.  She swam to the bottom and pulled him out.  When the Head Nurse Director became aware of Edna's heroic act she immediately ordered her to be discharged from the hospital, as she now considered her to be mentally stable.

When she went to tell Edna the news she said, 'Edna, I have good news and bad news.  The good news is you're being discharged, since you were able to rationally respond to a crisis by jumping in and saving the life of the person you love.  I have concluded that your act displays sound mindedness.

'The bad news is, Ralph hung himself in the bathroom with his bathrobe belt right after you saved him.  I am so sorry, but he's dead.'

Edna replied, 'He didn't hang himself. I put him there to dry....  How soon can I go home?'

Happy Mental Health Day!

That's My World!

That's My World is hosted each week by Klaus and the My World team, Klaus, Sandy, Wren, Fishing Guy and me. Click on the icon and share your world with others from all over Our World! So! How is your world this week? Have you taken time to see the beauty there? What is it about your world that makes you smile or laugh or feel grateful for? The colors of autumn are always breathtaking here in the northwest -- even when the skies are gray and they have been gray much of the past week. Sometimes for various reasons, one has to look a bit harder for the beauty in their world, but I have discovered that it is always there if you take the time and truly want to see the beauty. The ugly stuff is always there, too, but just as you can open your eyes to the beauty, you can close them to the ugly. It's knowing that the choice is yours that is important!

Truth is stranger than fiction, but it is because Fiction is obliged to stick to possibilities; Truth isn't.

Well, it's been one of those weekends!! Mojo's Dad -- as you know, has a new friend -- as in girl friend! And she has a dog named Stella -- who can't stand me!! But they are visiting us this weekend and hee hee! Stella has to put up with me whether she likes it or not. Mojo likes her okay, but it does mean that her Dad has less "special time" with her these days and she sometimes looks just a little ticked off and ignores Stella!
Personally, I love it!! Hooray for Stella! Even if she doesn't care for "little guys" like me!!

And here she is with Mojo, hoping for a tasty treat! I stayed downstairs!!
You'd think by the look on their faces that they hadn't eaten in a week!!!

What Can I Say?

What Can I Say?
I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
